Mental Health
Your mental health rights under the Mental Health Act 2014 (Western Australia) ensure that patients, including children, are treated with dignity and respect while having autonomy in their care decisions.
Treatment must be provided in the least restrictive environment possible, with patients having the right to informed consent and participation in their care.
Carers and families play a recognised role, with the Act ensuring their involvement and support where appropriate. For children, their best interests must always be prioritised, with families or guardians closely involved.
Confidentiality is maintained, and collaboration between patients, carers, and professionals is encouraged to ensure holistic, respectful care.
